Frequently asked questions

  • What age groups can join Trailblazer programs?

We offer programs for students of all ages:

Preschool & Pre-Kindergarten: Early STEM and robotics foundations through VEX GO.

3rd-8th Grade: Building and coding with VEX IQ robots.

8th-10th Grade: Advanced design and engineering in our BattleBots program

  • Do students need prior experience in robotics?

Not at all. Our programs are tiered by skill level. Beginners start with guided lessons in basic building and coding, while advanced students take on complex mechanical and electrical design challenges.

  • What skills do students gain from participating?

Students develop critical thinking, problem-solving, teamwork, and communication skills—all while learning engineering design, coding, and robotics principles. Many go on to pursue STEM fields in high school and beyond. By learning how to design, prototype, and integrate full robotic systems, students gain the technical and teamwork experience needed to excel in any future engineering or technology pursuit.

  • How does Trailblazer Robotics prepare students for future STEM careers?

Trailblazer Robotics gives high school students a strong foundation in real-world engineering through hands-on experience with design, fabrication, coding, and electrical systems. The skills students build directly prepare them for advanced robotics programs and other high-level STEM challenges.

  • What do coaches or volunteers need to join?

Coaches must complete our training and meet specific requirements depending on the program (e.g., experience with VEX IQ or engineering knowledge for BattleBots). For more information, visit our Job opportunities page.

  • How can I contact Trailblazer Robotics?
